Van Cleef & Arpels / Reveries in Stone: Roger Caillois

Cover photography of the exhibition «Reveries in Stone: Poetry and Minerals of Roger Caillois», presented at L'École des Arts Joailliers (Van Cleef & Arpels). A retrospective devoted to the mineral collection of Roger Caillois, French writer and academician.

The exhibition brings together close to 200 specimens from the collection held at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, several shown for the first time, curated by François Farges.

Photographing this exhibition was a real challenge. Beyond the usual difficulty of reflections in the display cases, there was a sharp contrast between the darkness of the rooms and the bright light of the vitrines and pieces.

The whole challenge was to faithfully capture the brilliance of the minerals and the finesse of the set design, while working within these demanding lighting conditions. This project is part of an ongoing collaboration with an agency, around the exhibitions of L'École des Arts Joailliers.
